Today, I am very excited to announce that my husband's new children's book, The Bell, is available for purchase! I can't tell you how long I've been waiting to share this news with you! Jake finished up the illustrations for this book several months ago (it was written by Charles Scott Cornwell), but we weren't allowed to show those around until the book was published and released, so I've been keeping it under wraps. But no longer!
I don't want to give anything away about the story, so I'll only share a few of the illustrations with you.
As you may have guessed from the images, The Bell is about a Salvation Army bell, the kind that the people next to the big red kettles outside Walmart ring this time of year. I don't know about you, but if I'm perfectly honest, those bell ringers have become so much a part of the Christmas atmosphere that I've seldom really noticed them. And to be further honest, until Jake partnered with the Salvation Army for this book project, I'd never stopped to ask where that kettle money went. I mean, I knew it went to "help people", but what does that mean, practically speaking?
Well, I am happy to tell you that I now know - the money offered into those red kettles goes to multiple different charitable causes, such as feeding hungry families, providing Christmas presents for needy children, and heating the homes of struggling senior citizens, to name a few.
It really is a great charity to donate to, and wanna know something awesome?
All profits from sales of The Bell will go to the Salvation Army!
Yep, so you should totally buy this book. And at less than $12, it makes a great stocking stuffer.
Okay, okay, I know, I admit it, I'm unabashedly touting my husband's work. But I really do believe in it, both the book itself and the charity behind it.
So, if you're interested in checking it out further, you can find The Bell at Barnes & Noble, both in regular and Nook format.
Silver bells, silver bells...
It's Christmas time in the city.
Ring-a-ling! Hear them ring.
Soon it will be Christmas day!

The illustrations are gorgeous. Very different from a lot of the children's books I've seen. And the story sounds great!
Thank you both! I'm excited about it, too. And Molly, I just recently discovered the One Kind Word Project (you should check this out, Lauren, you'd love it!), and I am so enthralled. I know a lot of blogs attempt to be "inspirational", but it really is!
